WEEKLY Restorative Yoga

Are you in need of rest and relaxation? There are many misconceptions about what yoga is and who can participate. Increasing scientific evidence has shown the benefits of yoga for general health and as a supportive therapy in certain medical conditions. It can be antidote to the stress of modern living, used to build strength and flexibility, balance the body, and calm the mind. We focus on restorative yoga and meditation classes suitable for adults of all age groups and abilities, including those with chronic illnesses. The emphasis is on relaxation and stress reduction in a positive and supportive environment.

5:30 – 6.30pm

Background
Cheryl is a medical doctor and fellow of the Australian Emergency Medicine College. She has over 10 years’ experience working in emergency and critical care settings. Cheryl is passionate about promoting positive lifestyle habits which is why her other professional interests include sports and exercise medicine. She has been practicing yoga for over 20 years, encouraged by the increasing evidence supporting the practice as an effective mind-body therapy for health and wellbeing. Cheryl decided to become a yoga teacher in order to aid others how the can use this ancient practice to improve their health and wellbeing. She is a Level 1 Yoga Australia registered teacher and has worked in studio, corporate and private settings. Cheryl is also undergoing further training in Yoga Therapy with the aim to bring the practice to a variety of patient groups. Furthermore, she has undergone dedicated Yoga for Athletes accreditation.
