In the news – NIIM Hyperthermia Launch

Date: 12-09-2012

On Wednesday 29th August, the official Hyperthermia Launch was held at NIIM. Around 40 people, plus Media were in attendance.

The sun shone upon us as we marked this special occasion in a fitting tribute to the Bardas Family Foundation. Special guests attending the launch included Professor Iain Wallace; Deputy Lord Mayor, Cr Susan Riley; Boroondara Council’s Cr Jack Wegman;  David, Belinda and Elli Bardas, and other guests. Thank you to all who attended.

We had some great media exposure including this full-page article in the Melbourne Observer – journalist Mark Richardson also attended.  Channel Nine crew were there doing a feature special for their prime-viewing Saturday evening News. This went to air last Saturday. The result was a balanced report, showcasing the Hyperthermia system and NIIM as well as a good interview with Avni (see link below to watch the full report). The Hyperthermia Centre/Study also received a variety of other media exposure including radio and print.

We were also fortunate at this launch to have several NIIM patients share their stories and speak with the media. Our thanks to Rainer Gundl, Gervais Serret and Tom Saville.

We would like to especially acknowledge and thank Beverley Pinder and Rowland Pinder Pty Ltd for organising a very successful launch and excellent media coverage, giving valuable publicity and exposure to our new Hyperthermia Centre and NIIM.
